How it works

Cibus will provide you with a wheelie bin; the liner in this bin will be replaced after every collection to keep it cleaner and more hygienic.

You will also be provided with a free 23 litre caddy to help transport your food waste from the kitchen to the wheelie bin.

This food waste is taken to an anaerobic digestion facility. Here, the food is digested by microorganisms which break down the waste inside an enclosed system. As it does this it gives off methane, which is collected and converted into biogas and used to generate electricity. The remaining product is a nutrient rich digestate that can be used as a fertiliser for agriculture.
